They are trying to raise funds to create an Arts Centre for Ipswich in St Clement's Church, which has stood empty for over 30 years.
St. Clement's is the last of Ipswich’s redundant medieval churches to seek a new lease of life. Known as the Sailors' Church, because of its proximity to the former harbour, it has connections to Admiral Nelson through the designer of HMS Victory, who is buried there.
They are aiming to convert St. Clement’s into a vibrant Arts and Community Centre, to enrich people’s lives, matching the region’s other successful venues – also in converted churches – in Colchester and Norwich, by currently raising £34,000 which will be used to make some necessary improvement to the church.
So far they have raised £8,000 through various fundraising events and with your help they would like to raise another £500 during this fun evening.
