Joining our Board are Nick Denny, Joint Chief Executive of East of England Co-operative Society and Elma Glasgow, PR specialist and Co-Director of Aspire Black Suffolk. The two new members are an exciting addition to the team, and further strengthen the Ipswich Central board by each bringing their own strong commercial and personal experiences of Ipswich.
Nick Denny is part of the Co-Operative’s Collegiate Leadership Team and oversees Property, Building Services and Conferencing & Events, of which the Society holds over £250 million of property. This includes Wherstead Park, the listed mansion set in 17 acres of parkland, renowned for providing high quality functions
Nick comments: “I am delighted to have joined the board of Ipswich Central. Having lived and worked here for a number of years, I have seen the growth of the town, but also the challenges it has faced. I’m very much looking forward to supporting the organisation, using my business experience at East of England Co-op, to drive further improvement for local businesses.”
Elma Glasgow first moved to Ipswich from London in 2016, and soon became involved in the town’s diverse, creative community as a PR consultant. In 2021, she founded Aspire Black Suffolk CIC, which was born out of the award-winning Power of Stories exhibition at Christchurch Mansion. Led by four female directors, Aspire is a dynamic social enterprise committed to empowering communities and tackling the key issues surrounding race, equality and inclusion in Suffolk and beyond.
Elma is thrilled to join the Ipswich Central board and comments: “Ipswich has so much to offer people; there is a real sense of community here. It’s full of very talented, creative individuals and the local cultural economy is thriving. I’m very much looking forward to working in collaboration with Ipswich Central and supporting diversity across local business.”
Our Chair, Terry Baxter, adds: “Our commitment to support businesses and the people of Ipswich requires a strong team of people, and we are thrilled to welcome Elma and Nick to the board. They both offer exceptional commercial experience, whilst being fully committed to driving Ipswich forward as residents themselves.”
