We launch Visit Ipswich

We launch the Visit Ipswich Destination Management Organisation (DMO)

The Visit Ipswich Destination Marketing Organisation (DMO) launched its new business plan on Wednesday 5 June at Ipswich’s Town Hall with a new Chair and Board, including members of Ipswich Central, Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council, University of Suffolk and Suffolk Food Hall.

The Visit Ipswich DMO will build on the work undertaken by the DMO since 2016, which includes securing over £60,000 in additional funding, providing content to Visit Suffolk, Visit East of England (formerly Visit East Anglia) and Visit Britain.

As part of the DMO’s work between December 2017 to March 2018 and December 2018 to February 2019, the Ipswich, Suffolk Coast and Bury St Edmunds DMOs, worked together with Heart of Suffolk and Visit Suffolk to deliver a campaign called RAW Suffolk designed to promote Suffolk as a tourist destination to 25-35 year olds. Independent Research undertaken by Destination Research estimated visitor expenditure generated by all trips influenced by the campaign in the region of £1,669,021 a return on investment of 50:1.

Professor Dave Muller, Chair of Visit Ipswich DMO said “I’m really pleased to take over the role of Chair from Alex Paul who was instrumental in setting up the DMO in 2016. Tourism and attracting business is vital to our County Town. Ipswich is the ideal place in which to stay from which to explore everything we have to offer – whether for business or pleasure.”

Visit Ipswich has the key objective of increasing visits to greater Ipswich, and enhance the overall experience to encourage repeat visits and word of mouth recommendation. The Board will continue to position Ipswich as ‘East Anglia’s Waterfront Town’ with core delivery of campaigns and information provided by allaboutipswich.com, the consumer brand owned by Ipswich Central, Ipswich’s Business Improvement District (BID).

Local businesses can become a member of the DMO for £110 +VAT pa which will give them a directory listing on allaboutipswich.com, the leading visitor website for the town, alongside business offers, events and news stories as well as involvement in any specific campaigns.
