Ipswich Central is excited to partner with Ipswich-based fan football culture artists Call Me Ted, to transform vacant units around the town centre by installing large vinyl versions of fan art commissioned by local artists this season for all ITFC home matches.
To enhance the atmosphere and visual appeal of Ipswich, with ITFC support in mind, this project will see a new installation for each remaining Ipswich Town Football Club home game this season, infusing the town with fresh energy and community spirit.
These new poster installations form part of a wider ‘Added Time’ campaign this season to celebrate the impact of Premier League football on the town, its people and local businesses with a series of professional fan culture portrait photographs plus images captured by fans on matchdays using disposable cameras. The Added Time campaign by Ipswich Central launched at the start of the football season in August 2024 to celebrate Ipswich Town’s 2024/25 season in the Premiership and capture what it means for local businesses and fans. The first new window installation has seen three posters installed this week in the former H&M building on the corner of Tower Street and Tavern Street, home to a pop-up Sports Direct, ahead of ITFC’s home game on Saturday 2 November against Leicester City.
Lee Walker, CEO of Ipswich Central, shares his excitement about the initiative: “This collaboration with Call Me Ted allows us to creatively reimagine our town centre, making it more inviting and vibrant. Each new display will highlight our creativity and love of football, bringing our community together and helping to showcase our pride in the town. We are thrilled to have Call Me Ted’s expertise to help us achieve new artwork in the town centre to brighten and enhance this space.”
Call Me Ted is a fan-led project which started in the summer, with the aim of creating gig-style posters ahead of each of Ipswich Town's home games in their first season back in the Premier League. They are working with a different artist for each match and displaying the artworks in pubs and shops around the town. The designs are also being featured in Ipswich Town's official matchday programmes.
Co-founder of Call Me Ted Steve Haugh says: "Through this project we're really pleased to be celebrating how much Ipswich Town FC matters to fans and the wider community at the same time as showcasing the incredible range of artists on our doorstep. The support we've had has been overwhelming, with the fanbase and local businesses really connecting with the designs.
"Thanks to Ipswich Central we're now able to show off these artworks in a larger format, while adding some extra colour to the buildings."
Visitors to Ipswich town centre are encouraged to keep an eye out for these evolving displays and share their favorites on social media. If you are a property owner and would like to see posters on display in your windows, please contact Melanie Willis at Ipswich Central to discuss this on 07718 699917.
Call Me Ted was started in August by brothers and Ipswich season-ticket holders Steve and Richard Haugh, along with friends and fellow Ipswich fans Kevin Bennett and Andy Mortimer. It is working with 19 artists to produce gig-style posters for every one of Ipswich Town's home games for their first season back in the Premier League. So far they've produced designs with Go-Bernard (Steve's artist moniker), Tom Armstrong, Joel Millerchip, Catalina Carvajal and Sam Peet, who has produced the stunning image of the entire Ipswich squad and Kieran McKenna for the Leicester poster.
