A new Degree Apprenticeship launched at the University of Suffolk

Derivco Ipswich, developers of globally trailblazing technology, are currently recruiting for Interns and Apprentices in partnership with the University of Suffolk. Derivco ran a successful Internship programme last year, and offered individuals studying Computer Science and with a keen interest in Software Development a 6 week placement of paid work experience during the summer. The individuals all had a taster of the wonderful benefits offered at Derivco, including: free lunches daily, free car parking, free gym membership, social events and more. Due to the success of the internship, it is running for a second year, of which applications are being welcomed until the end of the month. Upon completion of the placement, two exceptional individuals were offered full time Apprenticeship positions and are set to start in September 2017 as Derivco Apprentices, where they will be paid National Wage, full entitlement to all staff benefits and study a fully funded BSc (Hons) in Computer Science. Ross Baker, whom will start with Derivco in September said ‘‘during the six weeks, it was great to get to see professionals; programming, testing and evaluating software to see how it all fits together to give a final product. The environment of the workplace even helps you improve, as the people surrounding you are willing to help, give you tips on tricks of the software or even offer a hand of help on how to take the best shot in a game of pool’’. Derivco offers great recreational areas with Pool Tables, Table Tennis Tables, Games Consoles areas etc, as it really is vital for the teams to have some well needed down time too. From the success in the Internship, Derivco are partnering with the University of Suffolk to offer a Degree Apprenticeship for the first time. Successful candidates will undertake work with Derivco while studying at the University of Suffolk on a day-release basis. The Degree Apprenticeship is accredited by Tech Partnerships, and Apprentices will truly experience the best of both worlds – studying with the University’s expert staff while applying their studies to real world projects in Derivco. Degree Apprenticeships are fully funded so Apprentices will study without the need to pay tuition fees. At the end, they will receive a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions* and a Certificate of Completion of the Level 6 Apprenticeship. Derivco are now actively recruiting for new Apprentices to start in autumn 2017. The Degree Apprenticeship will be studied over 3 years and is a huge commitment for both the individual and the employer, so it is vital it’s right for everyone. You can see more on the role here.
