‘Us and Our People’ ITFC community mural winner

A new Ipswich Town Football Club community mural in Princes Street has been installed in line with the start of the town’s 2026/27 Premier League football season… and looks fantastic!

The winning design was created by Bradley Lloyd, a huge ITFC fan from Hadleigh and also the man behind Glory Days Artwork.

Steve Flory, Chair of Ipswich Central, met the artist Brad and his family – father, wife and two children – at the mural shortly after install was completed on Friday 21 August. As part of his prize, Bradley also won £2,000 in prize money, funded by Ipswich Central.

Brad Lloyd, mural artist and competition winner, said: “’Us and our people’ was a quote by captain Dara O’Shea that stuck in my head at the end of last season. I really wanted to show club legends, celebrate the diversity of the town, plus show iconic moments like Terry Butcher playing for England and Russell Osman in the Escape to Victory kit with this in mind.”

“Wolsey’s gate took a lot of time to get the bricks right, but needed to be on there. It was all drawn digitally and took a few months to get to the final design. It looks great and I’m really happy with it.”

Steve Flory, Chair of Ipswich Central, said: “This new piece of public art is wonderful. Encapsulated by a local artist and life-long ITFC supporter, it’s just what everyone involved wanted to see. Congratulations Brad, for creating the ‘us and our people’ mural for the town.”

With thanks to Ipswich Town supporters club for selecting the finalist for public vote and fans for voting for their favourite design. Thanks also to Ipswich Borough Council for painting the hoardings blue and Hudson Signs for printing and install of the final artwork.

Brought to you by Ipswich Central, the Business Improvement District (BID) for the town centre and waterfront thanks to Towns Deal funding.
