Winners of Constable 250 drawing challenge announced

Winners chosen for Ipswich Central’s Constable 250 inspired ‘Young Artist’ competition. 

The winners of the Constable 250 colouring competition have been chosen by All About Ipswich, Ipswich Museums and Harvest Moon.

Florence, 5, (left) won with her entry ‘The Magical Forest’ whilst Amber, 7, (right) won with her drawing of ‘A Small Piece of Treat Easter Land’ with both taking home a whole host of Constable 250 goodies.

The third winner, Isla, aged six and a half, also won with her entry of The Secret Garden. 

Back in August, as part of our Constable 250 celebrations, we launched the children’s art competition, inviting young creatives from our local community to take inspiration from the wonderful world of John Constable and create their own unique landscape artwork! 

After much consideration, our three winners were chosen by a vote from representatives of All About Ipswich, Harvest Moon and Ipswich Museums.

We’re thrilled to share that our winners have now collected their well-deserved prizes, and their wonderful artwork is proudly on display at Harvest Moon Cafe, located in St Peters Street.

A spokesperson for Ipswich Central, said: “It has been so amazing to see such wonderful creativity from the young people of Ipswich in this competition honouring one of the town’s most famous of faces and a massive thank you to all those who entered. 

“The three winners should feel extremely proud to have their artwork on display, and we hope that one day these budding artists can create a legacy as long lasting as John Constable.  

“We would like to also pay a huge thanks to Flynn Squirell from Harvest Moon and the team at Ipswich Museums for putting on such an amazing yearlong celebration of John Constable which saw the incredible Hay Wain in Ipswich for the first time” 

Harvest Moon’s opening hours are: Monday – Friday (closed Tuesday) 08:00-16:00, Saturday 09:00-16:00 and Sunday 10:00-16:00.
