We are Ipswich launches 10-year cultural strategy to transform Ipswich.
Ipswich Central, as well as its partners at We are Ipswich are incredibly proud to launch the ambitious programme or how arts, culture and heritage can help our town thrive over the next ten years.
It sets out priorities to support creativity, celebrate our stories and make it easier for everyone to take part, while strengthening our communities, wellbeing and local economy.
This strategy belongs to the town, and we all have a part to play. No single organisation can deliver it alone. Over the coming months, the cultural sector will be talking with communities, businesses, freelancers and partners in education and health to explore its ambitions and work out together how to make them happen.
A cultural strategy is a shared plan for what a place wants its cultural life to look like, how people will work together to achieve it, and how progress will be measured. In Ipswich, it will help connect the work of cultural organisations, artists, community groups, education providers, businesses and public bodies around common goals.
Driven on behalf of the town by We Are Ipswich, the strategy was developed by consultant Amy Vaughan, with support from local freelancers and organisations, and shaped by communities, artists and partners.
Ipswich Central is very proud to have supported the development on the Cultural Strategy as well as bring the partners of We Are Ipswich together.
Lee Walker, Chief Executive of Ipswich Central said: “Ipswich is on the cusp of transformation through its excellent grass roots arts and music scene, its award-winning theatres, Premier League Football Club and fantastic organisations that want to see it succeed.
“This strategy will bring together these organisations which will deliver a transformed town over the next decade, a town that is proud of itself, its history and its culture.
“Ipswich Central is incredibly proud to have been a part of this process and a huge thank you goes out to all organisations that we have partnered with in the development of this strategy, we look forward to working with you over the next ten years.”
