Oli Picton joins Ipswich Central

Ipswich Central is delighted to announce the appointment of Oli Picton as the new Communications Manager.

Oli joins Ipswich Central after working as a reporter for the Ipswich Star and East Anglian Daily Times since 2024 and as such will be a familiar face among those working in the town centre.

After graduating from Canterbury Christchurch University with a degree in Multimedia Journalism, he then held roles in the tourism and heritage industries and shares a keen interest in local history.

Speaking about his appointment, Oli said: “I am beyond excited to begin in my new role as the Communications Manager at Ipswich Central. The town is a place I have grown to love with its array of fantastic local businesses, incredible hospitality venues as well as its unique grassroots events.

“I have always been a storyteller in whatever role I have taken on, and I very much believe that Ipswich’s story is starting a brand-new chapter. With more festivals, campaigns and things to do in the town, coupled with the amazing selection of independent businesses, I can’t wait to work with levy payers to bring their stories to life.”

I’m looking forward to working with Oli to bring those stories to life and get more people involved in what we’re doing.”

Oli’s appointment will help us keep levy payers informed and connected as we put our plans into action.”

Oli takes over the role from Melanie Willis, who is departing Ipswich Central after joining in February 2024.
