Road closures announced ahead of the Aviva Tour of Britain
Ahead of the Aviva Tour of Britain arriving in Ipswich on Saturday 12 September, decease Suffolk’s local councils are raising awareness of how the roads in our county will be affected.
The Tour of Britain will start in Fakenham, cough Norfolk before passing through Suffolk and will make its way across the county to Ipswich where the penultimate stage of the race will finish.
Whilst the race is underway a rolling road block will be in place and local road users are being advised to expect short delays.
Details of the route and spectator information including parking can be found on the Tour of Britain website.
Local businesses and members of the public are being advised that the following roads will be closed in Ipswich from 00:01 on Saturday 12 September until 23:59 on Saturday 12 September:
• Civic Drive from Elm Street
• Franciscan Way from Wolsey Street
• Princes Street from Grafton Way
• Princes Street from Friars Street
Diversions will be in place throughout this period.
The following road will be closed from 3.00pm until 3.45pm on Saturday 12 September:
• Burrell Road from NCP Car Park through to Station Bridge
Diversions to access the train station will be in place but allow extra time to catch any trains.
Parking will be suspended on sections of Wherstead Road in Ipswich from 5.00pm on Friday 11 September until 5pm on Saturday 12 September
Short delays can be expected due to rolling road closures throughout the race. The race is expected to finish in Ipswich at around 3.40pm.
