Ipswich Central is committed to marketing Ipswich to new visitors whilst encouraging residents into the town centre. Under the town’s primary consumer brand, created by Ipswich Central, All About Ipswich, a number of campaigns run throughout the year in order to engage residents and encourage visitors to the town.
Promotions work around the six main themes of culture, heritage/history, food/drink, sports/health, festivals/events and retail using 10am treats on Facebook, supporting Ipswich’s Heritage Weekend, a fortnight promotion of food and drink as well as Christmas in Ipswich.
Promotions & Events
Under Ipswich Central’s consumer-facing brand, All About Ipswich, events and activities hosted by Ipswich businesses can be promoted through social media as well as by linking to specific campaigns, such as promoting food and drink around certain times of the year. The site encourages people attending the event to consider where they are going to eat and what else they can do during their visit to the town, as well as giving visitors an idea on where to stay and what to do whilst they are in Ipswich. In addition, there is Ipswich’s very own online shopping platform, Ipswich High Street Online. As well as big name national retailers, Ipswich high street is home to a number of independent shops. Ipswich High Street online showcases a variety of retailers and encourages people to browse, discover, shop and collect goods available on the High Street. Social media is a very important part of promotions, campaigns and events, as well as enabling people to discover things about Ipswich that they might not have known.
Available Fridays and Saturdays between 11.30pm and 3.30am (with additional cover on Bank Holidays) to help people get home easily and safely.
Taxi Marshals are based around the Old Cattle Market area, and this initiative is supported and funded by Ipswich Central, the PCC and Ipswich Borough Council.
Ipswich Central encourages visitors to the town using a full marketing mix, utilising all online and offline channels. Allaboutipswich.com has rapidly become the town’s central online presence offering a comprehensive listing of town centre events, as well as a variety of fantastic products and offers to be further encourage visitors to shop in Ipswich. In addition, the site and social media are used to promote Ipswich as a destination, a place to stay and a place to discover more about.
Ipswich Central also works closely with the Ipswich Destination Management Organisation (DMO) to market Ipswich as a tourist destination and the gateway to Suffolk.
Free Keeping Together wristbands are available to collect from various locations around the town centre. Telephone numbers can be written onto the bands and also contain information as to how youngsters and vulnerable people can be reunited with their carers or parents in the unlikely event of anyone becoming separated.
Ipswich Central are promoting the importance of training through business support packages, these are designed to give businesses within the BID area the chance to take advantage of discounted training and development opportunities.
Business support packages will help new businesses and managers find out what is currently offered in Ipswich and through being a levy payer with in Ipswich Central BID zone take the opportunity to find out more of what’s being offered and what is available.

Entries are welcomed from Ipswich Central BID businesses that excel in their activities and who believe they would be worthy winners of the Showcasing Excellence East Anglian Daily Times Business Award 2017.
The Showcasing Excellence Award will be given to the company that demonstrate all-round excellence in business. The judging will focus on financial performance and future objectives, the competitive advantage of the business, a commitment to customer service, and will look at examples of specific strategies which have driven business growth.
