Newlywed couple give wedding donations to help the homeless

The Ipswich Star reported today of an Ipswich couple, Tricia Feather and Dave Armitage, who having recently married, asked their guests to make a donation to the Ipswich Locality Homelessness Partnership (ILHP).

This partnership is made up of 30 organisations who work together to help the homeless, as well as people at risk of losing their homes.

A total amount of £600 was handed over to Susie Mills who manages the ILHP, who said the money would be used on a new project.

Tricia volunteers as a town pastor at the weekends and has seen the homeless asleep on the streets in the early hours of the morning. She felt compelled to help them and decided the best way to do so was through the ILHP as they work with various projects and can direct the money to the right place so the homeless can still get all the help they need.

The Help Our Homeless project was launched last week in Sailmakers and is encouraging people to give to these charities designed to help the homeless, rather than giving the money directly to the person themselves, which is less likely to help them.

The ILHP is based at the Chapman Centre in Black Horse Lane and is partnered with other organisations including; Ipswich Central, Suffolk Constabulary, Ipswich Housing Action Group (IHAG), Turning Point, YMCA Suffolk, Selig Suffolk and Emmaus Ipswich.
